Koogar flys to Jersey

Outside my hotel room in JerseyKoogar recently flew over to Jersey to train our new clients.

Over the last three months the Koogar Team have evolved a brand, created a more user friendly website and have now trained the staff within the company on how to use their new website and update it.

Katie Faulker; Director of Excel Recruitment said “The website looks great and its a lot easier to use for the Excel Staff as well as our clients and candidates.

Amendments and updates were made on the fly while in Excel’s offices in St Helier; as the clients asked for them. The truth of a websites functionality is always known when using it for real. Training took place 5 days before GO LIVE, making sure the site was running as it should for the users and the staff members for Monday 20th June.

Here is a photograph from my hotel room.

The pool and weather were being admired from Room 42 while I was tweaking and updating of the website for the next mornings meeting at 9am. Only a few hours before I flew back to the UK. Koogar are International!

We had a catch up meeting to talk about the tweaks and show them to the client making sure she was happy with everything.

I hope to return to Jersey to do more business and to maybe even have a holiday.

Dr.Ivan Misners thoughts on Marketing… (Interview)

On Monday this week I got a fantastic opportunity to interview the founder and chairman of BNI (Business Network International), Dr.Ivan Misner.

He is called the “Father of Modern Networking,” Dr. Misner is one of the world’s leading experts in business networking and referral marketing.

Why?

The reason for the interview was to find out how successful business men and women like Dr.Ivan Misner promote themselves and what they think of Marketing.

I get asked questions everyday about Marketing. For example; What should I do? It is expensive, there’s no point…, I’m not sure what to do…, What do you think I should do to promote the company?… The answer will be different for every business and business owner.

A lot of business owner struggle with marketing not realising that is a necessary activity for all businesses. So, I want to help them in a different way.

How?

I thought the best way to help my clients and other business owners to understand about Marketing is by interviewing people who have been there and done it. I will be interviewing different people in different ways and sharing their thoughts with you.

Where?

This interview took place via Skype, between Liverpool (UK) and California (USA).

You can listen to the the interview below or you can view a transcript of the Interview here in PDF form. The transcript has a few links that Dr.Ivan Misner suggested you took a look at.

It’s not what you know, or who you know, it’s how well you know each other that really counts…

Koogar interviews Dr.Ivan Misner

Yesterday Koogar interviewed Dr.Ivan Misner to find out what he thinks about Marketing.

At the beginning of 2011, Koogar took a look at the new years marketing plan. One thing I took from last year (2010) and previous years in business is that there are a lot of people in business who are unsure of what marketing is and are also scared to put themselves out there, even though they are in business to make money.

I regularly attend Marketing Seminars to see what others are up to and how they go about promoting themselves as times are changing, marketing is changing and its happening quickly.

I decided to ask people who have been there and done it… I decided at the beginning of 2011 that I’m going to interview a range of successful business owners and ask them “what their take is on Marketing“, to see if they could give us an insight into what has helped them build their empire(s), and also see if they can give us some hints and tips along the way.

The first person I have interviewed is Dr.Ivan Misner who is the founder and chairman of BNI (Business Network International). BNI is the largest networking organisation in the world that help business owners come together and refer each other for business every week. Koogar has been a member in BNI Alpha in Liverpool for over 3 years and thought there was no better place to start.

The interview has been recorded and will be uploaded for you to listen to and will also be transcribed giving you some of the websites and links Dr.Ivan Misner has recommended we take a look at.

If you not currently in BNI and are looking for a new marketing stream for your business, I can obviously recommend it.

Share your stories about BNI and how it has helped you and keep an eye on our website for the full interview.

Social Media for Artists

Last Friday was spent in the company of Liverpool based Artists.

From Photographers, to Jewellery Makers and Painters. Even Digital Visual Artists attended the workshop. The reason why they attended was because they wanted to learn more about selling their work, bring more awareness to what they do and understand which platform they should be on.

Dot Art LogoIt was a pleasure to train these Artists for Dot Art. It took me back to when I was in College; life drawing, learning about photography, etching, soldering in metal workshop and Art History.

Love it and every now and again during the workshop I wished I was back in college; getting my hands covered in paint, or glue from making something for a week long brief from our tutors…

Being creative in business is for everyone, not just for artists or designers. As creatives and business owners we need to work out how to do things differently compared to other companies and competitors within our industries.

At Koogar HQ we are creating all the time; for ourselves and our clients, which is actually one of Koogars mission statements.

Koogar will be creatively producing:

  • Products
  • For our clients
  • People

Delivering this workshop ticked this box. We have 4 mission statements and whatever we do we make sure 3 out of 4 are ticked! By having these statements helps us be the best we can be for ourselves and the people we work with.

I have a personal project which I am one step closer to with the help from Lucy (owner of Dot Art). When the project starts it will be photographed and filmed along the way.

I would like to thank Dot Art for giving us the opportunity to work with their Artists and help them sell their Art in the latest way using technology and Social Media. It has inspired me to be even more creative, take more time over work and think about what we are putting out there for our clients.

When was the last time you were creative in business?

Off the radar

When we train people/businesses in Social Media we recommend certain things to them to make sure they achieve the maximum potential with which ever platform they are using.

We have been off the radar a little due to the amount of work we currently have on and the bookings we are getting in for Social Media Training (x2 Full SM Days and x2 Hands-on Training Sessions in June), which means we haven

Koogar has gone Limited!

Yes, the fiscal year has just turned and we are VERY pleased to announce that Koogar has gone Limited.

Koogar started off as a hobby for Amanda back in 2006 (while she was working full time as an Internet Developer in Stockport) and over the years Koogar has pleasantly developed into a full time career, passion and company for Amanda. We started out as a Web Design company, as this at the time was the goal for Amanda to keep up her design skills, help businesses have a better web presence and to de-mystify the Internet for people.

I’m sure your aware that Koogar genuinely loves what we do for our clients and strive to be the best within our field!

Because of many of you (and despite the recession), Koogar has been going for nearly 5 years now, so we think its time that the company stood up and spread its paws.

Koogar has decided NOW is the right time to go Limited in the new tax year of 2011.

By going Limited it means that Koogar’s new vision can be rolled out. This new vision, is for the company to grow and expand, and really help new and existing existing clients to deliver thier marketing messages with even more impact and success. We would also like to help other businesses that you may know, to give the same care and devotion for their website’s, social media training and branding.

We plan to not only look after your website, but also develop your “Brand” on and offline for you, using Digital Marketing.

What does this mean to you?

Koogar wants to be even more successful by giving our clients even more value for their money!

We are looking to maintain ALL of our relationships, as we know you are all serious about growing and evolving your own visions, (whatever that may be as every ones vision of success is different). If you would like to know more about our new vision for Koogar and additional services you could benefit from, you’ll be able to find it on our website. Check out our philosophy and go from there…

We look forward to working with you, networking with you even more and helping you grow using Digital Marketing.

Koogar talks at Buzz Tuesday

Koogar was given the opportunity to give a talk on “Social Media and WHY you should use it within your business“.

The talk lasted around about 45 minutes and we decided to record it so that you could listen to it again, if you wanted to.

We covered a lot about your target market and who they are. Have you even spoken to someone at a network meeting or listened to someone say “I would like to speak to anybody/any one who…

The next time you attend a network meeting and someone asks you who you are looking to work with I challenge you to tell them exactly who you’re looking for without saying “anybody/any one who…”.

Without knowing our target market we wont be able to follow the right people or even get business from Social Media. Listen again to the talk and let us know who your looking to work with, you never know we might know that person!

Koogar Talk BuzzTuesday March 22nd 2011 by koogarsox

We also recorded a few testimonials given from the delegates who turned up for the Buzz Tuesday Event in Rossette to find out what they thought of the Networking Event and of Amanda as a speaker.

If you are one of the people who gave a testimonial we would like to say a BIG thank you! We all appreciate your comments.

Crash Overide, Acid Burn, Cereal Killer and Koogar

At the age of 12 I asked my Mum if I could have a computer and lucky me got one! I got an Apple Mac on my birthday which I had to share. I still have today, (probably a collectors item now).

I was one of the best students in my Information Technology class during school. I loved it and wanted more! I also attended an after school Roller Disco at the Youth Club down the road from our house which turned into a hobby when I bought my first pair of Blades at 16. They went everywhere with me.

Inspiration comes from different places for everyone.

“If you mess with the best, you die like the rest!”

In 1995 a film called “Hackers” came out with Jonny Lee Miller and Angelina Jolie. By the time I finished watching this film I wanted to be a Hacker. The story, the computers, the sound track, the style of clothes, the graphics, the blades; Actually everything in this film intrigued me into wanting to know more. Could I have a job that encompassed all of these things?

Crash Overide, Acid Burn, Cereal Killer and Koogar are all handles. Whats yours?

Over the last 3 months Koogar has been working with Business Advisor

kooKoogar Ka Choo!

As many of you know Koogar are a member of BNI – Business Network International which is a large networking organisation started off in America by Ivan Misner. We meet every Tuesday morning at 6:30am until 8:30am in the Hard Days Night Hotel.

We were told by our Committee that it was “Beatles Theme” week and that our 60 second platform was the time to share anything Beatles or you should come in fancy dress. If neither of these were taken up then you would have to do a forfeit. The night before Koogar frantically wrote the following;

Good Morning, Good Morning“!

A day in the life” of Koogar; We are a Digital Marketing company based in Liverpool who build websites amongst other things. We are always asked for “Help” and being told “It’s all too much“.

8 days a week” we live and breathe the Internet. Today I would like to talk to you about the Social Media “Revolution“. I want to “Hold your hand” with “All my loving” and help you get the most out of Twitter and Facebook.

People say; “How do you do it?“, “It’s all too much” and “Don

Manchester Social Media Workshop (24/2)

We held a Social Media Workshop in Manchester City Centre yesterday with the help of YSes. They found us the right building and venue for the job and also recommended a great catering company last minute to supply the lunch for my delegates and myself. So I must say a BIG thank you to Ruth and Natalie. If your looking for locations to run workshops, then you must speak to these girls!

The workshop its self went really well. There were only a few delegates so we got the take our time a little more and concentrate on their businesses more which in turn helped them work out that they can actually help each other with their own Social Media strategies.

What one of the delegates said about the day;

I have three things I
